Everyday care
- Vacuum regularly using suction only, without a rotating beater bar, which can pull at the fibres.
- Rotate the rug every 3–6 months so it wears and fades evenly.
- Use a rug pad to stop slipping, protect your floor, and extend the rug's life.
- Limit direct sunlight where possible, as strong sun can soften colours over time.
Spills and stains
- Act quickly. Blot, don't rub, with a clean white cloth, working from the outside in.
- For water-based spills, blot with cool water and a little mild, wool-safe detergent, then blot dry.
- Avoid harsh chemicals, bleach and soaking the rug.
Deep cleaning
We recommend professional cleaning by a specialist in handmade wool rugs every 1–3 years, depending on traffic.
Shedding
New hand-tufted wool rugs shed loose fibres left from the making process. This is natural and settles down with regular vacuuming over the first few months.
Loose tufts
Never pull a tuft that stands above the pile. Trim it level with the surface using sharp scissors.
